Shailendra Singh off to the US on a Fulbright Visiting Scholarship

Dr Shailendra Singh . . . a six-month "free speech" attachment at Syracuse University.

US EMBASSY, SUVA:
Dr Shailendra Singh from The University of the South Pacific, and a member of the Asia Pacfic Media Network (APMN), is on his way to the United States as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar.

He is associate professor in journalism at USP's School of Pacific Arts, Communication and Education (SPACE).

During his six-month attachment at the Tully Center for Free Speech, Newhouse School, Syracuse University, Dr Singh will conduct research on “Media Freedom, Human Rights, and Social Cohesion in Fiji: Navigating National Security Challenges in a Transitional Democracy.”

Through exposure to US academic institutions and values, programmes like Fulbright help strengthen international partnerships, expand America’s global engagement, and build lasting collaboration on shared challenges.

Dr Singh’s participation is the first Fulbright Visiting Scholar from Fiji since 1994, highlighting the enduring partnership between Fiji and the United States through education and research and our shared support for freedom of speech.

Wishing him a safe and successful journey as he represents Fiji through this prestigious academic exchange opportunity.
